Welcome to Our Story

Building this amazingly detailed skyscraper in the early 1900s seams impossible, even today with modern machinery, but construction started in 1917 and in only two short years it was completed in 1919 with pride. Designed by John W. Gaddis in the neoclassical style constructed by stone and brick with formal pillars, simple and ornate. Originally, to be named The German National Bank it had to be changed to American National Bank due to WWI. During the war, the roof was used by the Vincennes Indiana GOC {Ground Observer Corps} as an observation deck to report aircraft movement. This location was once the national bank headquarters and housed almost 200 employees {including work stations in the basement}. The bank has had a few different names including AM Bank, Union Planters, and Regions Bank and stood through many remodels.

Come take a peek into our magical world. From the joyous laughter of weddings to the elegance of receptions, we are here to make your dreams come true. Let's create memories that will last a lifetime – together.

Built in 1919

Established in 2019

Back in September 2019, a historic transformation took place in the heart of Vincennes. The city's tallest building underwent a remarkable change to become The Grand Bankquet Hall. Having stood as a bank for a century, this magnificent edifice now shines with renewed grandeur, embracing and showcasing as many of its historic elements as possible.
The restoration work has been meticulous, uncovering the exquisite tile mosaic floor, reinstating the mezzanine level balcony, revealing the original tray ceiling, and meticulously restoring the beautiful chandeliers. The building's natural charm has been lovingly accentuated, crafting the most perfect event space that seamlessly blends historic allure with an elegant, industrial setting.
This unique aesthetic not only provides a decorous backdrop but also offers a versatile canvas that effortlessly transitions between rustic, modern, and everything in between. The fusion of charming historic elements with raw industrial features creates an atmosphere that captivates and inspires, setting the stage for unforgettable events and timeless memories.
Moreover, the Grand Bankquet Hall is situated in an area that has experienced a revitalization. The Richter family, with deep ties to Main Street dating back to 2006, has witnessed the area's resurgence and the influx of businesses that can enhance any event hosted at the hall. From bridal registry services at Pearl and Chrome Home to an array of catering options, bakeries, dress shops, event decorators, photographers, and much more, the vicinity offers a comprehensive suite of amenities to complement and enrich your event.
Notably, the picturesque Main Street itself stands ready to provide a captivating backdrop for photographs, ensuring that every moment captured at your event is imbued with the timeless charm of the surroundings.
As owners of this extraordinary space, the Richter family eagerly anticipates the honor of you hosting your event at The Grand Bankquet Hall, where history and elegance converge to create an enchanting setting for your special occasions.
